The opportunity to stay in an unspoilt natural environment is a major attraction of the Julian Alps, for tourists making a first venture into the mountains and for Alpine experts alike.
From June to September there are many opportunities to climb the traditional paths that were once used for travel between Italy and Slovenia. The presence of Alpine guides guarantees the safety that Kugy preached as the principal virtue of Alpine pursuits. You can follow routes that harmonise with nature and respect the environment, using tracks that wind their way through clefts, along ledges and chamois paths, and over low rocky outcrops.
Activities recommended for the more adventurous visitors include trekking, ferrate (iron routes for assisted climbing), alpine climbing lessons, sport climbing, caving expeditions, canyoning and trips to Alpine historical and battle sites.
