The area of Cividale and the Natisone Valleys has a centuries-old culinary tradition based on recipes of peasant origin that are simple, but full of flavour nevertheless.

The most typical dishes are a blend of local produce and imagination. The offerings of land and livestock, such as pork, fruit, walnuts and mushrooms, are used in simple but tasty seasonal recipes that reflect the Friulian people’s hospitality and love of tradition.

In spite of the commonplace ingredients, the local cuisine can offer both delicate and robust flavours in satisfying and balanced dishes, best accompanied by the excellent local wines, which are also the fruit of a millennia-long love for the land.
