Planica is best known for the largest ski jumping hill in the world where new records are set almost every year. It was at Planica, that the first human in history jumped over 100 m on skis, later also exceeding the 200 m distance.

The Planica organisers prepare the hill for new surprising results each year. Once you experience the atmosphere of Planica, you will never forget it.

Similarly, you will always remember the song which thunders out from the throats of thousands of spectators each summer: »Heroes of Planica fly like birds.« The composition was written by one of the most renowned authors of Slovene ethnic entertainment music, Slavko Avsenik who adopted Planica as his own and vice versa.
