Sanctuary of the Virgin Mary - Mount Lussari
The origins of this sanctuary at almost 1800 metres in altitude, according to legend, date back to 1360 when the miraculous finding of the sacred image of the Virgin Mary among the mountain pines, confirmed the foundation site. In 1600, a small and characteristic village arose near the building, to host the pilgrims and moreover, the vestry, bell tower and side chapels were built. After various events and its destruction during the First World War, the sanctuary was rebuilt and reconsecrated in 1924. Again it was restructured after the earthquake in 1976. Of the old furnishings only the image of the Virgin Mary with Child was preserved.
