Parish church of St.Egidio - Camporosso

The Parish church was founded by Otto of Bamberg, bishop between 1106 e 1139. It was the first of the valley and remained so for three centuries; it was rebuilt and consecrated in 1471. The bell tower dates back to 1769 and has an onion dome; the building was rebuilt after the earthquake in 1976. Inside the nave with two aisles there is a late-gothic polygonal apse and a roof with ribbed vault.  The ceiling depicts some eighteenth century paintings.  Then there are some frescos, which represent "The Lashing" and "The Crucifixion". Moreover  there is a wooden statue of St. Egidio.
