Bled
It is always a delight to visit the lake and its island, the castle and the village. Bled politely reminds us of nature’s marvellous gifts, its tenderness and its beauty. It is well worth a visit in one of the small boats moored around the lovely lake that nestles between the Julian Alpine peaks, for there are many enjoyable walks along paths that offer breathtaking views of the lake’s mirror-like surface.
These natural treasures have gained considerable fame by attracting crowned heads, great artists, and doctors who have set up luxurious care homes in the sunny environs. Bled’s natural setting makes it the perfect departure point for a hike (Gola del Vintgar, Pukluska luknja, the Grotta Pod Babjim zobom). It also widely recognised as a centre for package tours. Energetic visitors and lovers of culture will find plenty of entertainment and relaxation to occupy their free time in Bled and the ancient towns around it: Radovljica with its Museum of Apiculture, Kropa with its Museum of Metalcraft, the poet Preseren’s house in Vrba, and the rich traditional cultures of the small villages sitting below the Stol.
