Having made the world aware of Slovenian skiing, and demonstrated that activity holidays are possible in Summer and Winter alike, this idyllic and ancient village has developed into a true and multi-faceted pearl of Gorenjska tourism. This is where sophistication meets the simplicity of nature, and where the World Ski Jump Championships have demonstrated the village’s gifts for organisation and hospitality. The village is also well known as the spot where the Sava Dolinka river emerges from its subterranean course before flowing onward to the Black Sea.

Kranjska Gora is a crossroads for people and goods. It is possible to travel seawards over the Vrsic Pass, past the Russian Chapel to Ajdovica Deklica, the giant maiden, and onward to Mojstrovska, or to Italy by way of Podkoren, or to Austria via the Koren Pass. Not far away is Mount Planica, where ski-jumpers perform their heroics and mouth-watering mushrooms emerge in the moonlight. It has been the perfect place for peace and quiet, or for leisure activities, since 1904.
