Tolmin

A small town at the confluence of the Soca and Tolminka rivers, where the Soca, Idrjica and Baca valleys run into each other, it has been the natural centre of gravity of the Tolminka basin for as long as can be remembered. Prehistoric remains have been found here, and it is here that someone once blew the oldest whistle ever found. You can find exquisite cheeses, and local cultural traditions preserved alongside old national customs. The green and turquoise Soca writhes and roars; there is kayaking on the cascades, rafting on the rapids, and paragliding in the sky. This is the realm of the auricorn, a mythical chamois, to which visitors always return.
