Water

We emerged from water, and we still feel its pull. Water has fun and thrills for everyone. Whether on a mountain torrent, on a tranquil alpine lake or a waterfall, we always find endless pleasure when we hasten back to the water.

The acclaimed Julian waters support an enormous range of activities. They are best explored on foot along the banks of the brooks, rivers and lakes. All three lakes (those of Bled and Bohinj, and the accumulation lake of Most na Soci) are easy to navigate; transfer services are organised on Bled’s well known boat, the “Pletna”, and on tourist boats at Bohinj and Most na Soci.

As far as competitive events are concerned, Bled is noted for its athletes and international rowing championships, Bohinj for a triathlon event, and Soca for its kayak competitions.

Around ten thousand visitors a year enjoy similarly memorable and high adrenaline white water adventures on rafts, kayaks and riverboards in the wild beauty of the Soca, activities that also flourish on the Sava. There are gorges throughout the whole region that are ideal for canyoning.

In all major centres of the Julian Alps there are agencies that specialise in organising aquatic events in natural surroundings, and high quality equipment is widely available.
