Trekking
When you lace up your boots and close the door behind you, you begin to live your life more fully. It is the journey that matters, not the destination, as you hear the snow crunching underfoot, the rustle of autumn leaves in a blaze of colour, or the springtime song of the birds.
The range of trekking opportunities in the Julian Alps is immense, including excursions into the natural beauty of the valleys, rambles through prealpine zones, and strenuous mountain climbs to high altitude. Mountain huts and refuges are separated by a walking time of 2 to 4 hours, and there are good maps covering the entire area. Each zone of the Julian Alps is unique: picturesque tracks in the Soca Valley lead to lakes and falls, and around Kranjska Gora there are spellbinding routes into the Alpine valleys lying far below the peaks. There are tranquil walks from Bled and Bohinj along the banks of the lake.
