In the Air
Men have wanted to fly since the dawn of time. We envy the birds, and try to emulate them from the safety of a hire plane’s cockpit, suspended beneath a parachute, or borne on the wings of a hang glider.
Airports for recreational flying in the Julian Alps can be found at Lesce and Bovec. Each is an ideal starting point for flying or parachuting over the Alpine peaks, although Bovec airport is less accessible and less well equipped. The area around Bohinj, Posocje and Kranjsca Gora also contains a number of take-off points for a hang glider or paraglider flight. The best known of all, at Kobala, above Tomlin, is a popular venue for national, European and world championship events.
