Tocai Friulano

Italian or Hungarian? Or better still: Friulian or Hungarian? All that can be said is that both vine and wine are very different from those grown in Hungary. This superb wine is pale yellow tending to green, subtle and delicate, with an intense perfume of wild flowers. It is dry on the palate, fresh, soft and mellow, offering a crisp, well rounded flavour of bitter almond, with moderate acidity and alcohol content.  A star among Friulian wines, it is best drunk when young, and is excellent as an aperitif, with light starters, dry or wet soups or with fish and white meats. It should be served at 10-12 degrees C.
