Local Products

Our local products are above all the great and important wines produced in this Friuli’s eastern zone: the notorious Ramandolo, the first DOCG of our region, that originates in an unusual landscape made of terraces on the Mount Bernadia; the famous Picolit, a matchless symphony of perfumes and flavours, that is created by sure touches in sweet areas caressed by Torre’s fresh breezes; the Refosco of Faedis, that is produced by a rustic and typical Friuli’s ancient autochton vineyard, is a great red wine. And then the Merlot, the Cabernet franc and sauvignon, the Pinot nero, the Tocai, the Sauvignon, the Pinot bianco or grigio, the Verduzzo. These wines go well with our most genuine products: barbecued meat, smoked trout, roasted duck and rabbit, venison and game, hams, lard, pork’s or goose’s bacon and sausages, vegetables that are served with love, mushrooms, apples, chestnuts, small fruits, honey and jams. Our typical gastronomy offers, moreover, tasty barley and bean soups, musetto and brovada, gulasch, frico with polenta, Montasio and other cheeses, salami with vinegar. There are also dishes influenced by Slavs: the ocikana, “gnocchi” made of polenta served with milk, melted butter and cheese; the stak, mashed potatoes or beans served with lard and garlic; the pozganik, a sort of sausage with milk, can be found in Taipana and Lusevera, in the heart of the foothills of the Alps.
