Long and hairy stem

Leaves: numerous basals, often persistent, with long petioles, green and hairless on the top part, reddish brown or violet at the bottom, divided in three wide, oval segments

Flowers: solitary, 2-3 cm wide, with 5-10 blue or rosy, rarely white sepals

Fruit: small bristly fruits

Habitat: broad-leaved woods, bushes; more or less on calcareous ground
