The Pian dei Ciclamini Trail

Lusevera, route: The purpose of the Pian dei Ciclamini Educational Trail in the Municipality of Lusevera is to allow "everyone" to avail themselves and enjoy the features of one of the most characteristic areas of the Julian Prealps Nature Park. In order to encourage as wide a range of users as possible (students, the elderly, visitors disabilities of various types and degrees, etc.), the Park authorities considered it important to create the trail in an easily accessible area that was near to existing accommodation facilities. The trail extends for approximately 600 metres, and has a kerb and guide ropes; its surface and contours make it suitable for wheelchair users. Educational panels that can be used by blind visitors lie along route, providing information for those who wish to learn more about the flora, fauna, landscape and history of the Park, particularly the area around the southern slopes of the Musi mountains. The trail starts and ends at a point near to the facilities of the "Ai Ciclamini" hotel and the adjoining guest house. There is also a well equipped information centre where visitors can obtain information on notable aspects of the local environment. From December 2007 the Julian Prealps Nature Park and the Joint Research Centre of the European Commission of Ispra (Va), in conjunction with Deimos Engineering s.r.l. of Udine and under the endorsement of the Unione Italiana Ciechi (Italian Union of the Blind), have maintained the SESAMONET system along the "Pathway for Everyone" and in the guest house information centre of Pian dei Ciclamini, so that blind visitors may take full advantage of their facilities.
